Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) expressed in marmoset cells by the classical protocol

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), is a double stranded DNA enveloped virus, a member of the herpesvirus family, and one of the most common human viruses. The virus occurs worldwide, and most people become infected with EBV sometime during their lives. In the United States, as many as 95% of adults between 35 and 40 years of age have been infected.

Typical Titer: ~103.5 TCID[50]/0.2 mL in 14 days on IRR-MRC-5 cells at 37C with 5% CO2 by CPE.

Conditioned medium containing-Epstein Barr Virus 

The conditioned medium is dervived from marmoset cell line, B95-8 (ATCC). This current lot has transformed lymphocytes (frozen and fresh) within 3-4 weeks.

  • Quality Control: The B95-8 conditioned medium containing EBV was filtered (22-µm sterilizing filter [Corning]) prior to use to eliminate contaminating marmoset cells. The B95-8 cell line and supernatant tested negative for mycoplasma, bacteria, and fungi.
  • Storage : -80C or lower. Can be kept at +4 degrees up until 6 months without losing ability to transform.
  • Safety : Must be handled under Biosafety Level 2 (BL-2) conditions.
  • Shipping : Per UN 3373 – Biological Substance, Category B packaging on dry ice.
